Increased density

Communities control the density of structures by controlling the distance between buildings and building height. There are two objectives for doing this. The first is to reduce the likelihood of a fire conflagration. The second is to control crowding and have an aesthetically pleasing environment. Both objectives are reached by setting distance requirements from the street (front yard setbacks) and from adjacent property (side yard setbacks).
