No Deaths in Sprinklered Residences in 15 Years in Prince George's County, 101 in Unprotected

From 1992 through 2007 there were a total of 13, 494 house fires resulting in several hundred injuries and over a hundred deaths. William Barnard, Maryland State Fire Marshal had this to say of the study and the ordinance requiring fire sprinkler protection in single-family homes, "Prince George's County was the first county in our country to pass this type of ordinance. Today, with the completion of this study, we have the data to prove that we were right. The biggest fact is the fire fatalities. There were no fatalities in homes protected with fire sprinklers. It is unfortunate there were so many fatalities in the homes not protected with fire sprinklers." Read more or see the study
