NFPA1 - Sprinkler Requirement Model Language
If your community has adopted NFPA 1: Fire Code; NFPA 101: Life Safety Code®; or NFPA 5000: Building Construction and Safety Code® you may simply reference the most current code in the form of an amendment. For example, following is language from NFPA 101® that can be inserted into your existing municipal code:
24.3.5.1
All new one-and two-family dwellings shall be protected throughout by an approved automatic sprinkler system in accordance with 24.3.5.2.
24.3.5.2
Where an automatic sprinkler system is installed, either for total or partial building coverage, the system shall be in accordance with Section 9.7; in buildings of four or fewer stories in height above grade plane, systems in accordance with NFPA 13R, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems in Residential Occupancies up to and Including Four Stories in Height, and with NFPA 13D, Standard for the installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured
Homes, shall also be permitted.
